CHOPIN - DUDa-GRACZ & OLEJNICZAK

Rapperswil, 9 November 2008, 6 p.m.

Castle Rapperswil, Rittersaal

A combined piano concert and multimedia picture presentation targeted at acquainting the international public with two distinguished contemporary Polish artists. The two artists share the fascination with Frederic Chopin’s music.

The internationally renowned as well as one of the most important Polish painters Professor Jerzy Duda-Gracz resolved to illustrate each of the Chopin’s pieces with a painting. Therefore in the years 1999-2003 the biggest cycle of pictures of the post-war Poland was created (295 paintings).

Following the wish of the artist, who died in 2004, the Chopin-cycle was exhibited for the first time during the Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in Autumn 2005 and became a great success.

Based on this cycle several paintings were selected for presentation designed to bring the typical Duda-Gracz painting style closer to the public.

Janusz Olejniczak as “THE” favourite Chopin Interpreter of Jerzy Duda-Gracz will be accompanying the picture presentation on the piano.
