Painting and drawing
Prof. Janusz Kaczmarski – painter and teacher. He was born in Warsaw 1931. From 1949-1950 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the direction of Stanislaw Szczepanski and continued his studies in Leningrad until 1951. In 1956 he graduated from the Kiev’s Academy of Fine Arts at the atelier of Professor Aleksiej Szowkunienko. After returning to Poland he was exhibiting his artworks with a group of painters “Powisle”, and later (1962-1976) with a group of “Realism Painters”. In the years 1964-1970 he also worked for “Przeglad Artystyczny” by writing reviews of art exhibitions. From 1972-1973 he was editing the “Polish Art Review”, a quarterly dedicated to polish art. Since 1972 he was several times elected as President of Headquarters of the ZPAP (The Association of Polish Artists and Designers). He is also a member of Board of Directors of the AIAP (Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques) by UNESCO. Since 1977 he is a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, Wroclaw, Torun and Olsztyn. From 1981-1987 he participated in the boycott of the Governments official presentation of Poland’s culture. As a consequence he exhibited his works only in the Museum of Archdiocese of Warsaw and abroad. His paintings were shown in many collective art exhibitions and in the presentations of polish art abroad. His works one can find in the collection of the National and regional Museums in Poland, Museums in Damascus, Havana, as well as in many private collections.
